Holiday Songwriting Workshop

4-day workshop: Meets December 4, 10, 11 and 17 // 2:00 - 3:30 PM

Cost: $475 per student [Minimum enrollment: 3 students; Max is 5]

The Holiday Songwriting Workshop is a creative space for student musicians (ages 7 - 10) to explore, play and create original holiday compositions through teacher facilitation and guidance. Students will first explore existing popular holiday music, then use prompts and creative brainstorming to write original holiday-themed lyrics and eventually set words to music by creating unique melodies. 

Along the way, students will learn fundamental aspects of songwriting, while discovering and honing their unique creative voice. Students will learn to articulate what they like and dislike musically, and why they feel this way—an important consideration in their songwriting journey. Students will collaborate to create two original holiday songs over the 4-day workshop.

At the end of the workshop, each student will receive a professionally arranged/mixed backing track and lyrics sheets of their completed songs, so that they can play, sing and teach their songs for family and friends during the holiday season. Each class will begin with hot cocoa, snacks, and an opportunity for students to get to know each other. The final day of the workshop will also feature a holiday card making experience for the students. Full Workshop Schedule
