Neha is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and educator. Her work is known for its whimsy, lushness and complexity. A conservatory trained pianist and vocalist, Neha takes inspiration from a multitude of musical personalities including jazz, folk, Indian classical, blues, pop and more.
As a composer, Neha’s recent credits include short films Places I Call my Own (by writer/director Sushma Khadepaun) and Another Take (by writer/director Kunao Yan). In early 2023 Neha was one of five composers selected for the prestigious ASCAP/Columbia Film Scoring Workshop, mentored by Music Supervisor/Director Alex Steyermark.
As a solo artist and bandleader Neha’s credits include performing with her band Everything Turned to Color at Lincoln Center, and collaborating with multi-Grammy Award-winning songwriter Dan Zanes. A recipient of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest finalist award for her original song "The Willow Tree,” Neha released her debut album “The Dreamer” in January 2014, in which she penned 11 of the 12 songs. She released her first record “Life Imagined” with folk/jazz trio Everything Turned to Color in June 2017, and they are currently working on their sophomore record.
A trained vocalist, Neha has headlined at the off-Broadway show "Sleep No More," performed works by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lang, new music composers Paula Prestini, Adam Roberts and avant-garde American composer Sxip Shirey. Neha is also a proud member of the Resistance Revival Chorus, a collective of over 60 women and non-binary singers dedicated to uplifting women's voices.
Neha holds a B.A. from Northwestern University and a M.M. from The New England Conservatory of Music in jazz vocal performance. A proud first-generation Indian-American woman in the arts, Neha is passionate and committed to amplifying the voices of female-identifying and POC individuals within the music world. She currently resides in Brooklyn with her husband Torrey and 2-year old daughter Ruhani.
